Circular/Mission Critical / Live Site Specialists
Our sustainable supply chain business model has been in place for 25 years, delivering the highest and best in circularity. AFO has resurfaced over 500k raised floor panels, returning them directly back into service in 24/7 mission critical environments. Here is how-
The Federal Aviation Administration is tasked with safely keeping airplanes in the air from take off to landing. "Enroute" flight service stations are located throughout the country. What they all have in common are access floor systems with Electrostatic Dissipative carpet "factory" bonded to the raised floor panel. The trouble is under 24/7 stress, the carpet wears out, the raised floor panel itself does not.
AFO Founder, Robert Boyle had a lucrative business selling freshly minted panels "factory bonded" in Tate's Jessup MD Factory (not on wheels) with ESD carpet as replacement panels for FAA facilities. "We would do a swap out and scrap the old panels" according to Boyle but, this extremely wasteful practice was disturbing. After researching adhesives and building a hydraulic stripping device, Mr. Boyle proposed to FAA the notion of re-surfacing their existing panels and won his first contract to do so in 1997.
Operating out of a small "shop" in Northern NJ, the panels would be transported (6hrs round trip) from the ARTCC at McArthur Airport on Long Island to the NJ shop where they were stripped and new ESD carpet was re-bonded to the floor panel. Travel time, fuel and emissions were problematic to the workflow.
Round World Business Group t/a Access Floors Onsite was founded in 1997 on the trifold premise of fiscal, environmental and social responsibility now known as ERG. OnSite V1 was a used van trailer up-fitted as a mobile re-lam shop. From 1997-2003 AFO resurfaced 500k sq ft for FAA in a footprint that stretched from Fairbanks AK to Key West, FL. Today, OnSite V4, built into an Intermodal Container is capable of resurfacing 1200 square feet of raised floor panels per day, anywhere in the world.
OnSite v4.1 features -
- Robust electrical distribution.
- Fully ventilated spray booth.
- Stainless steel walls and surfaces disinfected daily.
- Pressurized floor plenum delivering UV purified conditioned air.
- Hydraulic Stripping machine (carpet).
- Infra-red conveyor oven for separating old laminate from panel.
- Vapor proof lighting and switching.
- Custom router table for "Integral Trim".
At full efficiency, OnSite v4.1 can remove, resurface and return directly back into service over 5000 square feet of virtually new raised access floor panels daily
After years of archaic jacking and blocking mission critical "stay live" equipment, AFO engineers built a faster safer much better way of "suspending" active IT equipment. "We didn't throw away our bottle jacks and Johnson Bars, we just don't use them much anymore" .
